Manchester City have reached a £29.4m agreement in principle to sign defender Vitor Reis from Palmeiras.
Manchester City has reached an agreement in principle to sign highly-rated Palmeiras defender Vitor Reis. The 19-year-old had attracted interest from several top European clubs, but now appears set to join Pep Guardiola’s squad at the Etihad Stadium.
The deal, worth a fixed fee of £29.4 million, does not include any performance-related bonuses. Reis, who has already broken into Palmeiras’ first team, is considered one of the most promising young defenders in South America.
The signing is expected to bolster Manchester City’s defensive options, with Guardiola keen to strengthen his squad for the remainder of the season.
The transfer is subject to the completion of formalities and regulatory approvals, but Reis is expected to complete his move to Manchester in the coming days.
