Tinubu Restructures Media Team, Introduces Collaborative Spokesperson Approach

Tinubu has restructured his media team with his three advisers as collective spokespersons to enhance government communication efficiency and coherence.

President Bola Tinubu has announced a restructuring of the State House media and communications team, aimed at streamlining the government’s communication processes.

This restructuring was announced in a press statement released by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

In this new restructuring, Sunday Dare, previously Special Adviser on Public Communication and National Orientation, now assumes the role of Special Adviser, Media and Public Communications.

Also, Daniel Bwala, initially designated as Special Adviser, Media and Public Communication, has been reassigned as Special Adviser, Policy Communication.

In addition, the role of Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, held by Bayo Onanuga, remains intact.

The Presidency clarified that these appointments signal a departure from the traditional model of a single spokesperson. “There is no single individual spokesperson for the Presidency. Instead, all three Special Advisers will collectively serve as spokespersons for the government,” the statement read.

This new structure, according to the release, is designed to ensure efficient and consistent dissemination of government policies, decisions, and engagements, as Onanuga noted, “This approach aims to ensure effective and consistent communication of government policies, decisions, and engagements.”
